The former Sugar member, accused of embezzling around 4.3 billion won, could face a 3-year prison term.
On the 21st, Jeju District Prosecutors sought a 3-year sentence in Hwang's final trial for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.

Hwang allegedly embezzled 4.34 billion won, including 700 million won from Hunminjeongeum Entertainment, investing it in cryptocurrency in early 2022.
Reports say she invested 4.2 billion won in cryptocurrency, with the rest covering property and local taxes.
Hwang owns 100% of her family-run company, being its only artist.
She admitted guilt and repaid Hunminjeongeum Entertainment by June 5, presenting proof to the court.

Hwang's defense asked for leniency, arguing she intended to grow the company, was unaware of proper procedures, and repaid all funds.
The sentencing is set for 10 a.m. on the 25th of next month.
